The moment an ID is scanned, SignMe checks the visitor against three lists at once:

- ✅ Whitelist (active permit window) → green/amber/slate banner.
- 📅 Today's appointments (NID exact or name contains) → cyan/indigo banner.

Banners stack when a visitor matches more than one list. The check-in button is disabled in the UI and blocked server-side when the visitor is blacklisted — defense-in-depth.
